Many applications are best-suited for plastic/polymer substrates which use replication technologies for production such as injection moulding and hot embossing. Traditional tooling methods have design and timeline limitations that can be overcome by using a glass master from FEMTOprint.
FEMTOprint can produce a negative of your microfluidic design of interest on a glass substrate.
This substrate will then be used to electroform a nickel shim.
The nickel shim is then used as an insert for your tooling.
Design: incorporation of sloped channels, posts or pillars with a draft angle for demoulding.
Rapid turnaround time: masters can be produced with several weeks which enables the production of multiple iterations and faster time to market.
Proof of concept: early-stage prototypes can be produced quickly in glass to establish proof of concept before design freeze and high volume plastic production.
