The fabrication of high precision V-grooves and hole arrays for 1D-2D fiber arrays for data-/tele-com faces technological challenges. This is due to the necessity of effectively handling dimensions from a few microns to a few millimetres with resolution and accuracy below 1 µm.
With the FEMTOPRINT® laser-based micro-machining platform, high-precision fiber alignment elements can be fabricated with accuracy in dimensions and positioning better than 1 µm. It helps to enable 1D-2D fiber arrays with best-in-class product qualification in terms of losses according to telecom standards.
